The Beginnings ...

... of a serious portfolio. All images were created by Lucia, in tux paint. She had no help whatsoever from anyone. She even saved them by herself. Her computer skills are getting quite advanced.

Following artist interview:
Mom (M): What is the meaning behind this piece?

Lucia (L): Cats
M: Your pallet is very inspiring! How do you choose your colors?

L:Two
M: There is some interesting imagery in this piece. What is the meaning behind it?

L: Ummm Cinderella
M: This has a real Jamaican feel. Is that intentional?

L: Yes
M: There are a lot of cats in this one. Why did you use so many cat stamps?

L: Cause I like that
M: More cats! What's going on in this one?

L: Poop. Mom I need to watch a movie.
M: I Love this piece! Your colors and shapes are pleasing to the eye! Are you satisfied with it?

L: No it's not great. Mommy go back.
M: Very geometric. I love the use of squares. Good colors again. Do you like this piece?

L: Umm no. poop.
M: This one reminds me of the early 90s. The colors and triangles take me back to advertisements and fashion I saw in the 90s. Do you know about the 90s? Do you know what year it is?

L: No. Yes.
M: Fantastic. I love it. How do you feel about the colors?

L: umm, paint.
M: you are amazing. I can't believe you freehanded this with a mouse. Now why do you portray people sideways? Is this a portrait of anyone in particular?

L: That's you with a basket. You are going home.
M: Great portrait! Awesome colors. A wonderful freehand. You are so advanced for your age. I feel the subject looks angry. Is this someone we know? So interesting how you draw them sideways. What do you have to say about this piece?

L: No they are happy. They have earrings.

M:Great colors against a zone 5 background! That is zone 5 grey right? Was that intentional? Any closing statements.

L: I draw that. This one. Mommy I draw this picture when I was little. I got a basket.

(at the moment she is wearing a dinosaur outfit she found in the garage ... which she is EXTREMELY upset about spilling water on ... ugh, the challenges)

"That's Emma.  Yes, That's Emma.  I take a picture at Nana and Papa's house."

"That's Collin... and that's Emma! Mom, who's that? That's Emma!"

"It's a light and a brush (?).  I get hurt.  A LIGHT!"

"Look! That's .... oh, What's That? (mom: "is it Aunt Gwen") Yes, that's Aunt Gwen."

Lucia: I don't want to take a picture anymore.

Lucia: NOO! I want ipod.

Mom: Is it daddy?

Lucia: No. I want ipod.
